“Perspective Matters”

A PhD Workshop for Young Scientists

Friday, July 10, 9-15

In almost any application of science to policy or societal issues the individual and group perspectives of the participants varies greatly, such that misunderstanding and even clashes are built into any dialogue that takes place; facts are often delegated to the background. Climate engineering is a prime example.

In this workshop we use scenario-based role-playing to understand how crucial the perspectives of interest-groups is to the application of “scientific knowledge” to “societal issues”, and question how scientists can contribute to this process.
