SPP 1689 Workshop

SPP 1689 workshop Climate Engineering: Opportunities and Challenges for Responsible Research and Anticipatory Governance on May 14-16, 2019 in Berlin.

Aim: This workshop explores what lessons can be learned from the SPP’s responsibility initiative for setting future research and anticipatory governance in response of CE which are becoming increasingly salient on the political agenda in many states and at the international arena. It explores, among other things, if the position initially taken by the SPP of a clear-cut separation between CE-related basic research for assessment on the one hand and for technology development on the other can or should still be considered timely and legitimate. In addition, we would also like to discuss the shifts CE-related research has experienced against the background of more recent changes in the international climate policy landscape. The interdisciplinary workshop will bring together international researchers and experts.

Venue: Museum of Natural History, Invalidenstrasse 43, Berlin
