Session 1: Scientific Feasibility of Climate Engineering Ideas

Chairs: Prof. Dr. Thomas Leisner (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology) and Prof. Dr. Klaus Lackner (The Earth Institute Columbia University)

We welcome contributions on the technical and/or economic feasibility of climate engineering proposals. The session will cover both radiation management and greenhouse gas removal approaches. Typical feasibility issues include limited efficiency of the working principle, intolerable side effects or unfavorable need of resources compared to other options. In the session we will address specific climate engineering proposals and attempt a quantitative assessment.
